JERA sets supply measures amidst high summer demand

This includes avoiding repairs during the period.

JERA announced measures it will implement to ensure enough supply of energy this summer season from July to September.

“JERA, to avoid fuel constraints and an electricity supply-demand crunch this summer, is moving forward with the following measures to secure kW (to secure power supply capacity, conduct targeted inspections of power generation facilities, etc.) and kWh (to secure fuel),” it said in a statement.

To secure power supply capacity, the company said it will avoid scheduling repairs and inspections during the summer. Moreover, it said it will continue the construction of its thermal power stations as part of planned replacements.

JERA said it plans to begin operating its Goi Thermal Power Station Unit 1 (Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture) through its subsidiary Goi United Generation in August.

To prevent outages, the company said it will conduct soundness checks and targeted patrols of broilers and other priority equipment.

“Whilst major concerns have not been found for securing fuels during the peak demand period in summer, JERA is working to quickly grasp changes in electricity supply-demand and, by optimising flexible procurement and resale through its subsidiary JERA Global Markets Pte. Ltd, to secure a stable supply of fuel,” the company said.
