Major Philippine transmission grid project completed by 2014

Ormoc-Maasin line to improve reliability of the grid in the Visayas region.

The National Grid Corporation of Philippines that operates, maintains and develops the Philippines’ power grid said that it will complete the 138kV transmission line project by the first quarter of 2014.

The US$12.3 million project will strengthen the existing 138kV line from Ormoc, Leyte, to Maasin, Southern Leyte by stringing another circuit into the facility. NGCP said the project is important for the continuous power supply into the Visayas grid.

The new circuit will allow NGCP to comply with the N-1 contingency that helps the grid to operate even when a major system component is lost.
