Mundra UMPP Unit-I boiler light-up due this month

CGPL will conclude the boiler light-up for the first unit of the 4,000 MW Mundra UMPP by end of this month. It was originally scheduled on February 2011.

Coastal Gujarat Power Limited, a Tata Power subsidiary,  wanted to achieve ahead-of-schedule commissioning of the 4,000 MW Mundra UMPP.

Thereafter, CGPL will achieve steam blow-off for the unit within the next month, two months before the schedule of April 2011.

Furthermore, erection of boilers for all the five units are presently underway at the project site, with around 98.5% erection at Unit-I complete.

The developer has also completed the erection of main frame structures for Units IV and V.

Unit-I of the UMPP is slated to achieve commercial operation declaration (COD) in June this year, followed by the Unit-II in December, against the schedule of September 2011 and March 2012, respectively.

Likewise, the third, fourth and fifth units will be commissioned in February, June and September 2012, as compared to their corresponding schedule of July, November 2012 and March 2013.
