SECI issues tender for 1.07GW solar project in Rajasthan

Winners will sell the power generation to RUVNL.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a tender for developing 1,070MW of grid-connected solar PV projects in Rajasthan, India under a tariff-based competitive bidding process. Bidders will have to submit a single bid for 10MW to 1,070MW and the projects will be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis.

The winners will sign 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with SECI and will sell the power generation to Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL); the projects will have to be commissioned within 18 months from the effective date of the PPA.

In September 2019, the Indian state of Rajasthan announced plans to reach 50GW of total solar installed capacity by 2025, with an intermediary target of 25GW by 2021-2022. The new target is part of a proposed policy package to establish the state as a solar hub and includes proposals to develop decentralized, grid-connected solar projects between 500kW and 3MW.
