Adani Green Energy bags world's largest solar deal

It has agreed with SECI to develop 8GW of projects over the next five years.

Adani Green Energy (AGEL) has won the world’s largest solar agreement from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop 8GW of solar projects, according to a press release. This award will entail a single investment of $6b (Rs45,000 crores).

This agreement comes along with a commitment to establish 2GW of additional solar cell and module manufacturing capacity.

Based on the award agreement, 8GW of solar development projects will be implemented in a variety of locations over the next five years. The first 2GW of generation capacity will come online by 2022 and the subsequent 6 GW capacity will be added in 2GW annual increments through 2025.

With this win, AGEL will now have 15GW of capacity under operation, construction or under contract, thereby accelerating its journey towards becoming the world’s largest renewables company by 2025.
