Andhra Pradesh's integrated renewable project gets greenlight
This involves 1GW of solar and 550MW of wind.
The government of Andhra Pradesh in India has approved the establishment of an integrated renewable energy project (IREP) at Pinnapuram village in Kurnool district, Mercom India reported.
The project involves a 1GW solar project, a 550MW wind project, and 1.2GW of standalone pumped storage capacity. The government also allotted 4,766.28 acres of land as per the latest market value determined by the revenue department.
According to the order, the project should be completed in four years, failing which would entitle the government to take back the entire land.
In November 2019, the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited called for a techno-commercial feasibility study of pumped storage power projects at 30 tentative locations in the state.
