Asia-Pacific led hydropower tender activity in April-June 2019
The region took up 60.2% of the global market of tenders for the time period.
Tenders for hydropower technology in the Asia-Pacific held the top position with 56 tenders and a share of 60.2% during April to June 2019, followed by the Middle East and Africa with 15 tenders and a 16.1% share and North America with 15 tenders and a 16.1% share, GlobalData revealed.
The top issuers of tenders in hydro technology for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were the Department of Electricity Development (Nepal) with 1,725.1MW from eight tenders, Vectren (United States) with 700MW from one tender, and Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (Pakistan) with 300MW capacity from one tender.
Globally, hydro technology tenders activity in Q2 2019 saw 93 tenders announced, marking a drop of 30% over the last four-quarter average of 133.
Of these tenders, eight were for project implementation, five were power purchase agreements, and one was for electricity supply.
