Bangladesh gets US$418m funding from Europe for renewable energy projects

Turkey’s geothermal production jumped from 80 MW to 1600 MW.

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) has continued its expansion on the global stage with a geothermal development in Turkey.

The impending partnership came after PGE’s collaboration with Kenya. The state-owned oil company has been examining the country’s geothermal potential through its various producers at the end of October.

Throughout the visit, PGE received several findings and data from various geothermal companies about Turkey’s utilisation of geothermal energy to support the maximization of Turkey’s geothermal potential.

Currently, geothermal production in Turkey has progressed from 80 MW to 1600 MW, becoming one of the fastest-growing producers of geothermal energy in the world. And all geothermal power plants hold an installed capacity of 1,691 MW.

However, Turkey’s current per capita energy consumption level is 3.8 MW yearly, as opposed to the normal standard of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) of 8 MW yearly.

“With all the potential it has, it is still very possible to exploit geothermal energy in Turkey further. We are optimistic that this visit can be the door to cooperation in geothermal development for Indonesia and Turkey, which will provide benefits for many parties,” Achmad Rizal Purnama, Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey, remarked about the partnership between the countries.
