CNOOC commences production in Wushi 17-2 oil field project

It is projected to have a peak production of about 9,900 barrels.

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has announced that the Wushi 17-2 oil field group development project has been put into production.

In a statement, CNOOC, which owns 80% of the project and serves as the operator, said the product is light crude oil.

The project is located in the Beibu Gulf, with an average water depth of about 28 metres. The main production facilities include a new wellhead platform and an oil and gas processing terminal. 

It is planned to put into production 43 development wells, including 28 oil production wells, 14 water injection wells, and one evaluation well and water source well. 

The oil field is expected to achieve a peak production of about 9,900 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2026.
