Construction starts at Hydrogen Park Murray Valley

Around 40,000 residential and industrial customers will benefit from this.

The $65.4-m Hydrogen Park Murray Valley has officially entered its construction phase, the Australian Government said.

According to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, the project on the New South Wales-Victoria border will service the Albury-Wodonga region. It is expected to produce 500 tonnes of hydrogen annually using a 10-megawatt electrolyser.

The renewable hydrogen produced here will displace natural gas supplied locally, at blends of up to 10%. The project is predicted to eliminate around 4,000 tonnes of carbon annually.

The Hydrogen Park Murray Valley is an initiative of the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group. It has received funding support from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency ($36.1m), the Victorian Government ($12.3m), and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation ($3.22m).
