Consultation launches for Western Australia CIS tender design

Submission is until 31 March.

Australia has started consultation for the Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) 2025 Western Australia Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) design paper.

According to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, the design paper outlines possible features for a proposed WEM tender.

This will support projects in renewable energy generation and clean dispatchable capacity in the south-west grid in Western Australia. It will specifically fund wind and solar energy, as well as battery storage.

The consultation will focus on parts related to CIS renewable generation.
