EGAT and MHI partner for hydrogen-natural gas blending in power generation

This will also support Thailand’s goal to reach net zero emissions by 2065.

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd (MHI) to collaborate on the blending of hydrogen with natural gas in power generation to support the energy transition.

In a statement, EGAT Deputy Governor-Fuel Narin Phoawanich said the partnership is vital in boosting the share of clean energy, supporting the goals of Thailand’s Power Development Plan and Hydrogen Promotion Plan.

“This initiative has combined alternative and clean fuels with cutting-edge Japanese technologies for more eco-friendly power generation,” the statement read.

“It is a good opportunity to exchange knowledge on technologies and development plans for the hydrogen value chain with Japanese companies,” it added.
