ENGIE, STMicroelectronics enter 21-year PPA for new solar farm in Malaysia

This covers 50 GWh of renewable energy.

ENGIE Renewable SEA Pte Ltd, through BKH Solar Sdn Bhd that it established with Conextone Energy Sdn Bhd, has signed a 21-year power purchase agreement with STMicroelectronics for solar power from a new plant in Malaysia.

In a statement, ST said the agreement covers 50 gigawatt-hours of supply that will be sourced from the solar farm located in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah.

“By supplying approximately 50 GWh of renewable energy annually from our new solar PV 30 MW [megawatt] project in Malaysia, we are proudly contributing to ST’s transition towards 100% renewable sourcing,” said Amit Jain, managing director India & Southeast Asia, ENGIE.

“This partnership with ST demonstrates our commitment to providing green, clean and reliable energy to our clients,” Jain added.

The long-term agreement is undertaken under the Corporate Green Power Program introduced by the Malaysian Single Buyer in 2023.
