FRV Australia starts construction of 100-MW Terang battery project
This can store a total energy of 200 megawatt-hours.
Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) Australia has commenced construction of its Terang Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in the state of Victoria.
In a statement, the company said the 100 megawatt (MW)/200 megawatt-hour (MWh) large-scale battery project was financed by FRV Australia’s recently signed refinancing facility. It will also receive a $4.62m (A$7m) funding support for the installation of grid forming inverters awarded under round two of the Victoria Government’s Energy Innovation Fund.
The project is located two kilometres north-east of Terang’s centre and approximately 40 kilometres north of Warrnambool. It is near another potential FRV Australia battery, the 250MW/500MWh Gnarwarre BESS project, located in the southwest region of Victoria, which will start construction soon.
FRV Australia expects the Terang project to create up to 150 jobs during the construction phase and will employ three to four permanent operational staff.
