India OK’s equity investment for 2 thermal power projects
The two projects have a total capacity of 2,260 MW.
India’s Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the proposed equity investment for two power projects located in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha with a total capacity of 2,260 megawatts (MW).
In a statement, CCEA approved the equity capital by South Eastern Coalfields Limited worth around $99m (INR823 crore) in the 660 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Plant through its joint venture with Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Co. Ltd.

The project, with an estimated cost of $673.8m (INR5,600 crore), is located at the Amarkantak Thermal Power Station Village in Chachai, Anuppur District.
Meanwhile, CCEA also approved the proposed around $575.7m (INR4,784 crore) equity capital by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited for the two units of the super-critical thermal power plant in Sundargarh District in Odisha with a capacity of 800 MW each through its subsidiary Mahanadi Basin Power Ltd.
The proposed project has a projected cost of $1.9b (INR15,947 crore).
