Proposed Shikoku Electric nuclear reactor shutdown rejected by court

The 890MW reactor is the company’s sole reactor in operation.

A high court in Western Japan rejected a lawsuit made by some residents to shut down Shikoku Electric Power’s No.3 reactor at the Ikata nuclear plant, the company’s sole reactor in operation, Reuters reports, citing local media.

The 890MW reactor was restarted on 27 October and is currently running at full capacity.

The restart followed a Hiroshima High Court in late September that lifted a 2017 injunction blocking operations at the reactor.
