Repower Energy commences testing and commissioning for 18.2 MW hydropower plant

This has a generation capacity that can energise 54,000 homes.

Philippines-based Repower Energy Development Corporation has announced that its Cabanglasan Hydropower Corporation has commenced testing and commissioning on its 18.2 megawatt (MW) run-of-river hydropower plant located at the border of the City of Valencia and San Fernando in Bukidnon.

In a bourse filing, Repower Energy said the $68m (PHP 4.0b) facility is located along the Pulangi River. It can generate an average of 130 gigawatt-hours of power annually, enough to power over 54,000 homes once it commences commercial operations.

This is the company’s 9th operating hydropower plant, and its first plant in Mindanao.

The company has ongoing construction in the 4.5 MW Piapi hydropower project located in Quezon Province, with a targeted commercial operation by the end of 2027. Construction will also commence for four more hydropower projects in the coming months, with a total capital expenditure of $175.1m (PHP 10.3B).
