Decreased Indian supply increases Nepal's loadshedding
The Nepal Electricity Authority has increased loadshedding by 46 hours per week.
The officials said India had reduced supply to Nepal by 35 Megawatts forcing NEA to increase the power cuthours. The other reason, NEA said, was that the water level in Kulekhani reservoir was lesser than anticipateddue to lesser than normal rainfall.
“Due to increasing demand we have no options but to increase the power cut hours,” said Bhuwan Kumar Chhetri Chief, System Operation Department, NEA.
"Power cut will be for seven hours every day for four days and six hours for remaining three days in a week,” he added.
