Vietnam’s energy law takes effect

 

Vietnam’s Law on Energy efficiency and conservation officially took effect on January 1. The Law was approved by the 7th session of the XII National Assembly on June 17th 2010. On July 9th 2010, the Office of the President held a press conference to announce the President's order on the announcement of the Law on Energy efficiency and conservation.



The Law specifies the responsibility of energy consuming units in the coordination and reporting current use of energy, development and implementation of energy efficiency and conservation plans at the units. It encourages the formation of services and organizations networks to implement energy saving programs and projects in the localities.

 


The Law on Energy efficiency and conservation, including 12 chapters and 48 articles, has institutionalized the line of the Party and policy of the State on the national energy development, energy security, rational and efficient exploitation and use of domestic energy sources to fulfil the tasks of environmental protection and meet the requirements of socio - economic development.
