Heimifeng plant makes test run for 2009 start

Unit 1 of Heimifeng Pumped Storage Power Plant passed a 30-day test run, which signaled that this unit is ready for commercial operation.

Heimifeng plant, owned by Wuling Electric Power Co. Ltd, is composed of four 300 MW reversible pump-turbine/motor-generator units. It is the first pumped storage developed by a power generation company and also the first pumped storage power plant in Hunan Province. When completed, the plant will play an important role in providing base and peak-load power and greatly ease the power shortage in the province.

It started construction in 2005 and all units are planned for operation in 2009.
