BW Water recognised at Asian Water Awards 2025 for SPAM Jatiluhur project
The company implemented a fast-tracked, high-capacity treatment system that delivers reliable water access for communities across Karawang, Bekasi, and DKI Jakarta.
BW Water received the Water Treatment Excellence Award - Indonesia at the Asian Water Awards 2025 for its work on the SPAM Jatiluhur project, one of the country’s most significant water infrastructure initiatives. The award recognised the company’s design, supply, installation, and commissioning of electro-mechanical works for two treatment plants that now serve hundreds of thousands of households.
The project is part of Indonesia’s National Strategic Project to provide clean water to residents in Jakarta and West Java. With a total capacity of 4,750 litres per second, equivalent to 410,000 cubic metres per day, the plants at Cibeet and Bekasi treat water sourced from canals connected to the Jatiluhur dam. The system reduces reliance on groundwater and helps address land subsidence in urban areas.
BW Water deployed its proprietary Hydro-PAQ™ and Hydro-FIL™ technologies, which optimised the land footprint whilst meeting rigorous treatment standards. The facilities, completed in December 2024, were delivered under a public–private partnership led by WIKA Tirta Jaya Jatiluhur.
The award also highlighted three key achievements of the project. First, it marked the successful scaling of BW Water’s technologies, which were rightsized to meet Indonesia’s largest regional water treatment demand. Second, the mechanical and electrical installation was completed in five months, with testing and commissioning finalised in ten days. Third, the company delivered a comprehensive package covering raw water intake, pumping stations, treatment processes, and sludge management.
The SPAM Jatiluhur project is designed to benefit about 380,000 households in stages, contributing to long-term water security in Jakarta and West Java.
