Kirloskar Brothers brought home Asian Water Awards for IoT solution

KirloSmart allows for real-time performance analysis of the pumps being used.

Pump manufacturing company Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) bagged the Community-Based Water Project of the Year - India category win at the Asian Water Awards 2023 for its unique and innovative IoT solution KirloSmart, which allows remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and real-time performance analysis of the pumps.

KirloSmart is being used to improve the Babina Canal Lift Irrigation Project, which supplies water to 15 villages and irrigates over 6,000 hectares of farmland. It ensures optimal pump performance, predicts and alerts users about necessary corrective measures, and eliminates the need for manual intervention.

The Babina Canal Lift Irrigation Project has a system integration consisting of vertical turbine pumps each with a capacity of 35 cusecs and a 35m head to lift the water to the canal. The pumps are equipped with an advanced PLC and SCADA systems for efficient monitoring and control.

KBL continues to deliver more efficient and future-driven innovations that enhance lives, transform industries and create sustainable value. The government-specific requirement was to monitor the pumping station remotely as the site was in a very isolated place and wastage of water was to be minimised.

“With the application of Kirlosmart, the government officials were able to monitor the operation of pumps and control the flow required by the irrigation department without visiting the site,” the company official Mr Sandipan Saste (AGM-Water, Irrigation, Power Sector & International LOC Business) said.
