Serentica Renewables receives accolade at Asian Power Awards 2025 for solar power project

It has enabled the reduction of over 3.1 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, unlocking US$150m in savings in the process.

Renewable green energy company Serentica Renewables secured the Solar Power Project of the Year - India title at the Asian Power Awards 2025 for its Bikaner Solar PV Plant Project, which has urged a fundamental rethinking of how green power can meet the base load requirements of energy-intensive sectors traditionally dependent on fossil fuels.

At its core, the Bikaner solar project reimagines industrial power reliability in the age of decarbonisation. It has delivered a firm 315 MW of time-block committed round-the-clock renewable power seamlessly integrated from wind, solar, battery energy storage systems, and pumped storage.

Serentica has also employed digital twin technology, modular construction methods, and predictive maintenance protocols, all of which have contributed to system availability of over 99.5%. A smart, pre-engineered transmission system with advanced relay coordination and low-sag conductors further underlines the project's engineering depth.

The project was born from Serentica’s third Power Delivery Agreement (PDA) with mining company Hindustan Zinc (HZL), which marks a paradigm shift in how renewable energy can serve large-scale industrial demand.

Implemented under a captive BOOT model with a fixed-tariff, long-term offtake arrangement, the PDA ensures long-term visibility for HZL and revenue stability for Serentica. It is also estimated to unlock nearly US$150m in cost savings for the former.

Furthermore, the project is strategically aligned with India’s national climate ambitions and showcases the viability of round-the-clock renewables at scale. It is expected to abate over 3.1 million tonnes of CO₂ annually.

“Ultimately, this project goes beyond clean energy delivery — it redefines the future of industrial power in India. It is a bold demonstration of how renewables, when designed for reliability and scale, can directly power core industrial operations,” the company said.
