China again leads the world in new wind installations
Total installations in 2012 were over one-third of all new capacity worldwide.
This again made China the world’s largest wind market in terms of annual installed capacity. China installed 15.9gW of onshore turbines in 2012, the fourth straight year China led the world. The U.S. installed 14% fewer turbines than China.
China’s total new power generation additions from wind, solar, nuclear and other sources last year exceeded 80gW.
China now has 61gW of cumulative grid-connected wind energy capacity equivalent to 2% of its total electricity. This boost despite an 18% drop in annual installations from the record of 19.3gW set in 2011.
