Mitsubishi's Eneco, Shell to power Amazon's European facilities

The electricity would be generated by wind farm Hollandse Kust Noord.

Mitsubishi-owned renewables firm Eneco and the Royal Dutch Shell will provide retail giant Amazon’s European facilities with electricity generated by Dutch subsidy-free offshore wind farm Hollandse Kust Noord.

The agreement between Eneco and Amazon will see the renewables firm installing 130 MW of renewable capacity equipment.

Eneco and Shell's joint venture CrossWind has been working on installing 69 wind turbines for the wind farm.

Currently under construction off the Dutch coast, wind farm Hollandse Kust Noord will have a total capacity of 759 MW and will be operational by 2023. It will generate at least 3.3 TWh of electricity per year.

The project will be pursuant to the retail giant’s commitment to be a net-zero carbon business by 2040.
