Korea to boost green energy use, development: minister

South Korea will continue to increase its use and development of new, green energy, including nuclear power.

This is meant to help reduce the country's energy costs and also fight climate change, the country's energy minister said Friday.

"Renewable energy faces many difficulties in various aspects, but the government will work to expand the country's use of the new energy sources because it is where the country must be headed," Hong Suk-woo said in a meeting with senior members of the Korea International Trade Association, according to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy.
