Samsung's move to spin off LCD business could benefit Chinese panel makers

Samsung Electronics Co.'s move to spin off its liquid-crystal

display (LCD) business could benefit Chinese panel makers by bringing more business

opportunities to them, a Beijing-based market researcher said Thursday.

Last week, Samsung Electronics said in a statement that the provisionally named Samsung

Display Co. will be launched on April 1 with capital of 750 billion won (US$667.3 million).

The new entity will absorb Samsung Electronics' existing LCD operations.
