Bangladesh oil-gas body seeks cancellation of rental power plant deals

A Bangladesh oil-gas body is seeking the  cancellation of rental power plant deals.

 

The National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports is currently demanding reopening and repair of all state-run power plants.

It also demands the cancellation of proposed coal-based power plant at Rampal, Bagerhat near the Sundarbans to protect the world’s largest mangrove forest from environmental peril.

It also wants the, formation of a new law banning mineral resource export and full implementation of the Phulbari Agreement.
