Vietnam to spend US$811 million to improve power transmission

Funds will go to over 100 projects to begin this year.

The Vietnam National Power Transmission Corporation plans to place online 54 power lines of 110kV-500kV and build another 50 similar projects to enhance the capacity of the power grid in the north of the country.

The utility will secure new loans from domestic and international organizations for the projects. It has also asked the Vietnamese government to grant incentives for the project.

Vietnam's total electricity output for this year is estimated to reach 133 billion kWh, up by 11% from 2012, according to the government. In addition, some 3.7 billion kWh could be imported from China.
