Taiwan to push overseas sales of its photovoltaic products

Targets 10% growth in total exports.

Taiwan’s Bureau of Energy has developed an action plan for overseas expansion of the photovoltaic market in response to a global glut of solar panel manufacturing capacity.

The plan’s three primary strategies consist of developing business opportunities; promoting business matchmaking and various forms of financial support to assist solar cell manufacturers in bidding for international projects.

It also aims to enhance the international competitiveness and profit margin of Taiwan’s PV sector with a target of 10% growth in total exports.

The bureau is expanding its “Million Rooftop” photovoltaic project to increase solar power usage, boost the economy and help develop the local solar manufacturing industry.

Under the Million Rooftop PV plan of 2012, PV-energy service companies rent rooftops to install solar cells. In 2012, the plan had achieved its original objective of 100 megawatts of installed capacity.
