NTPC unit secures 80 MW floating solar project

The generated electricity from the project will be used by Madhya Pradesh’s discoms.

NTPC Renewable Energy won the bidding for the 80-megawatt floating solar project at Omkareshwar Reservoir in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.

In a statement, said the bidding was led by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited, the joint venture firm of the Solar Energy Corporation of India and MP Urja Vikas Nigam.

With a discovered tariff of $0.046 (INR3.80) per kilowatt-hour, the electricity to be produced from the project will be used by distribution companies in the state.

NTPC said the project will bring the company’s floating solar capacity to 342 MW.

The company which aims to reach 60 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2032, currently has 3.3 GW of renewable operational capacity and 20 GW in the pipeline.
