NHPC to develop 300 MW solar plant in India

The project is expected to start operations in September 2024.

India’s National Hydropower Corporation (NHPC) is developing the 200-megawatt solar power plant in Rajasthan, with a total investment of around $208.9m (INR1,732 crores).

In a statement, the Ministry of Power said the project can produce around 750 million units of solar power yearly, offsetting around 10,000 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions in its lifetime.

The power generated from the power plant, to be transmitted through the Bikaner-II Inter State Transmission System Substation, will be supplied to the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited.

The project, which can create 600 indirect job opportunities during the project phase and 100 personnel during the operations and maintenance, is developed in line with the government CPSU Scheme Phase-II, Tranche-III.
