India’s installed renewables capacity up 14.2% in November
Solar energy reigns supreme.
India’s installed renewable energy capacity has reached 213.70 gigawatts (GW) as of November 2024, up 14.2% from 187.05 GW a year ago.
According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, 14.94 GW of new renewable capacity was added until November 2024, an improvement from 7.54 GW a year ago. Last month alone, 2.3 GW of new capacity was added from only 566.06 MW last year.
Solar power continues to lead, with installed capacity rising 30.2% to 94.17 GW. Installed wind power also rose 7.6% to 47.96 GW.
Bioenergy capacity, meanwhile, rose 4.6% to 11.34 GW in November.
For hydro projects, small facilities increased 1.8% to 5.08 GW, whilst large ones inched up 0.19% to 46.97 GW.
In nuclear energy, installed capacity grew 9.36% to 8.18 GW.
