Shanghai Electric commissions digital substation project in Uzbekistan

This is the first in the Central Asian country.

Shanghai Electric has announced the completion and commissioning of its Zafarabad 220 kilovolt (kV) Digital Substation in  in Jizzakh Province, Uzbekistan.

In a statement, the company said the facility, which is the country’s first digital substation, covers approximately 75,000 square metres and has a capacity of 400 megawatts.

The substation features two 250 MVA auto-transformers, developed and manufactured by Shanghai Electric, which will step down the voltage from the 220 kV level of the higher power grid to 110 kV for local distribution

Shanghai Electric said this is also equipped with advanced monitoring and data acquisition systems that reduce the need for on-site maintenance personnel and improve operational safety. The system's real-time monitoring capabilities can quickly locate faults and adjust the power load to prevent disruptions, it added.
