Basic Energy secures certificate of authority for Mariveles solar plant

This allows the company to start procurement.

The Philippines’ Department of Energy (DOE) has granted Basic Energy Corporation a certificate of authority (COA) for the Mariveles Solar Power Project.

In a statement, the company said the COA allows it to begin securing the necessary permits and tenure instruments required for the project. This also allows the company to initiate procurement activities ahead of the 25-year Solar Energy Operating Contract term

The Mariveles Solar Power facility will be located in Mariveles, Bataan, spanning approximately 72 hectares. According to a preliminary assessment, it is expected to generate a peak output of at least 62 megawatts.

Basic Energy Corporation said it will now proceed with the next steps in the development process. This includes obtaining approvals from relevant national agencies and local government units, and conducting a System Impact Study in collaboration with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.
