GW-scale integrated renewable energy project to rise in India

This is being developed by Greenko.

A gigawatt-scale integrated renewable energy project, which will be the world’s first and largest, is being developed in Andhra Pradesh.

According to India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy & Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Shri Pralhad Joshi, recently visited the $4.2b project.

The facility being developed by Greenko includes 4,000 megawatts (MW) of solar, 1,000 MW of wind, and 1,680 MW of pumped hydropower generation. It will have a storage capacity of 10,080 megawatt-hour per day in a single cycle.

The project will help avoid 3.3 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually and enhance India’s energy security.
