Risen Energy secures grid connection for Aussie battery energy storage project
Construction will now commence.
China’s Risen Energy has secured grid connection for its Coleambally battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Australia.
According to the company, this approval “signifies the successful completion of critical technical assessments, allowing the project to proceed towards finalising connection agreements and commencing construction.”
The Coleambally BESS is a 100 megawatt (MW) / 400 megawatt-hour lithium-ion battery system designed to provide four hours of energy storage.
It is located 9 kilometres northeast of Coleambally in New South Wales, adjacent to Transgrid’s existing Coleambally substation and near the 150 MW Coleambally Solar Farm.
