Peak Energy expands in Japan with 48 MW ready-to-build solar portfolio

The projects can produce 60 GWh of power annually.

Peak Energy has acquired 48 megawatts (MW) of ready-to-build (RTB) high-voltage solar sites across Japan.

In a statement, Peak Energy said the projects are located in various regions, including Tokyo and Tohoku. Some sites will be integrated with battery energy storage systems.

They can produce nearly 60 gigawatt-hours of power per year, equivalent to the power consumption of around 15,000 households. The solar energy facilities are expected to avoid nearly 27,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, equivalent to removing around 9,000 cars from the road.

The solar plants are scheduled to come on stream over 2026-2027, with the electricity output sold to corporates through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).

This transaction follows Peak Energy’s acquisition of another set of 11-MW ready-to-build high-voltage solar sites.

The company also co-owns a 28 MW solar plant in Kyushu and actively offers corporate power users in the country a range of energy services.
