JSW Energy commissions additional 281 MW renewables capacity

The company also signed a deal with Adani for 250 MW of wind energy.

JSW Energy Limited has commissioned its 281 megawatt (MW) of organic renewable energy capacity, bringing its total installed capacity to 12,499 MW.

The company said in a bourse filing that the additional capacity is composed of 215 MW of solar energy and 66 MW of wind energy. This added generation will allow JSW Energy “to benefit from the peak wind season during the year and will contribute meaningfully to overall renewable output.”

With this capacity addition, the installed wind capacity stands at 3,482 MW, solar capacity at 1,968 MW and hydro capacity at 1,391 MW, taking the share of renewables in overall capacity to 55%.

JSW Energy also announced that its step-down subsidiary JSW Renew Energy Three Limited has signed a power purchase agreement with Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited for STU-connected wind capacity of 250 MW.

The project is located in Maharashtra and is expected to be commissioned in the next 24 months.

The agreement is for 25 years with a tariff of INR 3.65 per kilowatt-hour.

JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 29.9 gigawatts (GW), comprising 12.5 GW operational, 12.4 GW under construction across wind, thermal and hydro and a pipeline of 4.9 GW. The company also has 29.3 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of locked-in energy storage capacity through hydro pumped storage projects of 26.4 GWh and a battery energy storage system of 2.9 GWh.

The company aims to reach 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by fiscal year 2030.
