ORIX sells Greenko stake for $1.282m

The sale will be completed by the end of the month.

ORIX Corporation is selling the majority of its 20% stake in Greenko Energy Holdings for $1.282m.

According to a statement, ORIX said it has signed a share transfer agreement to sell 17.5% of its interest in Greenko to AM Green Power B.V. The purchasing company is a wholly owned subsidiary of AM Green B.V., which was established by the founders of Greenko.

The share sale was initially announced in January 2025, but was terminated in April due to the conditions precedent not being satisfied.

ORIX said it chose to reenter the deal “after further consideration amongst related parties.” Regulatory approvals under the Indian Competition Act have already been obtained.

The company eyes allocating a part of the sale to invest in the next generation of the energy sector, including green molecule, an area expected to grow rapidly as the world works towards achieving decarbonisation.

ORIX plans to complete the partial transfer of Greenko shares and underwriting of the convertible notes by the end of July 2025.
