JSW Energy commissions second unit of 240 MW Kutehr Hydro Plant
Another unit will be commissioned soon.
JSW Energy Limited has commissioned the 80 megawatt (MW) unit of its 240 MW (3 x 80 MW) Kutehr Hydroelectric Power Plant.
In a statement, the company said this brings the commissioned capacity at Kutehr plant to 160 MW.
Power dispatch to Haryana has commenced from 160 MW capacity, marking a key milestone for the project. The last 80 MW unit is expected to be commissioned soon.
The Kutehr Hydroelectric Power Plant is located in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh and is one of the fastest-built greenfield hydro projects in India. It is backed by a long-term power purchase agreement with Haryana Power Purchase Centre for the entire 240 MW for 35 years with provisions for extension.
Power generated will supply Haryana’s state distribution utilities Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam.
JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 30.3 gigawatts (GW) in various development stages, and 29.4 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of locked-in energy storage capacity The company aims to reach 30 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by fiscal year 2030 and achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
