India and Japan boost energy security, transition efforts
They will work on advancing technologies in the sector.
India and Japan have deepened their energy sector partnership, with a focus on energy security, clean energy transition, and addressing climate change.
According to India’s Ministry of Power, the countries recently held a dialogue to fuel the Japan-India Clean Energy Partnership. Both sides have institutionalised this cooperation through the India-Japan Energy Dialogue and sectoral Joint Working Groups (JWGs).
During their discussions, leaders from both governments reaffirmed their commitment to energy security and inclusive growth, welcomed progress in areas like energy efficiency clean hydrogen, ammonia, renewable energy, and agreed to expand cooperation on carbon capture, utilisation, and storage green chemicals, biofuels, and advanced technologies.
The ministers emphasised that the India–Japan partnership will continue to play a pivotal role in advancing secure, resilient, and sustainable energy systems in the Indo-Pacific region.
