Pacific Partnerships submits EIS for Cobbora solar and battery project
This will support the planned closure of 3 GW of coal generators.
Pacific Partnerships has submitted to the New South Wales Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure the environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Cobbora Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project.
According to the company, the EIS is now available for public comment.
The Cobbora project comprises of 700 megawatts (MW) solar farm and a 400 MW / 1,600 megawatt-hour BESS. It is included on the Federal Government's inaugural National Renewable Energy Priority List and is seen to support the planned closure of 3 gigawatts of coal generators.
“During the development of the EIS, extensive consultation with the community was undertaken. We would like to thank everyone who participated in our first round of information sessions in Elong Elong, Dubbo and Dunedoo and/or provided feedback during this time,” the company said.
Construction of the project is expected to commence in 2027.
