Frontier Energy eyes expansion of Waroona RE project
The strategy aligns with the retirement of up to 1.7 GW of coal and gas generation assets.
Frontier Energy Ltd. has announced plans to expand stage one of its Waroona Renewable Energy Project into a multi-stage renewable energy precinct known as Waroona Energy Park.
“Strategy development timeline aligns with the retirement of 1.3 gigawatts (GW) to 1.7GW of ageing coal and gas generation assets in Western Australia,” the company said in a statement.
The project is eyed to become “the largest renewable energy precinct in the southwest of Western Australia.”
The multi-stage expansion strategy targets up to 1 GW of solar energy generation and up to 660 megawatts (MW) of battery storage by 2031.
