Alternergy takes over Tablas Offshore Wind Power Projects

These are three offshore wind projects.

Alternergy Holdings Corporation, through its wholly owned wind sub-holding Alternergy Wind Holdings Corporation (AWHC), has announced its full acquisition of the interest of Shell Overseas Investment B.V. in Tablas Strait Offshore Wind Power Corporation.

The said company is developing three offshore wind projects located at Tablas Strait which separates the islands of Mindoro and Panay.

“Beyond our 500 MW [megawatt] capacity target by 2026, our Tablas offshore wind projects form part of the next pipeline of projects. With full control of the Tablas Projects, we are eager to proceed at a more accelerated pace,” said Knud Hedeager, president of AWHC.

A recent feasibility study confirmed the viability of the projects.

Hedeager said the company will build on the results and move forward with pre-development activities.

“In time, we expect to initiate collaboration with interested third parties to realise the Tablas Projects,” he said.
