Lightsource bp enters Japanese renewables market

It is now in 20 markets globally.

Lightsource bp has acquired a 15-megawatt peak solar project in Hokkaido, marking its entry into the Japanese market.

In a statement, the company said this development marks an important expansion of its operations in the Asia Pacific region. It is now present in 20 global markets, which include Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, and South Korea.

“By combining our international experience with local partnerships, we aim to support Japan’s renewable energy goals while building a strong and sustainable pipeline of renewable energy projects,” said Adam Pegg, Chief Operating Officer for APAC at Lightsource bp.

The company has a global solar development pipeline of over 58 gigawatts (GW) of mature and early-stage projects, of which nearly 8 GW are in Asia Pacific.
