India’s coal production up nearly 8% in October 2024

Coal dispatches also surpassed last year's data.

India’s Ministry of Coal has reported  an overall coal production of 84.45 million tonnes (MT) in October 2024, which was 7.48% up from the previous year.

In a statement, the ministry said production from captive and other entities also showed substantial growth, rising 41.75% to 16.59 MT in October 2024.

This brought cumulative production to 537.45 MT, up 6.10% from a year ago.

Additionally, coal dispatches increased 4.60% to 82.89 MT, whilst coal dispatch from captive and other entities grew 36.83% to 16.18 MT in October 2024.

Cumulative coal dispatch reached 571.39 MT as of October 2024, reflecting a 5.52% growth from the same period last year.
