J-POWER launches subsidiary in Indonesia
It will develop renewable energy projects.
J-POWER has commenced the operation of its new unit PT JPOWER Generation Indonesia (JPGI) which will take advantage of the power generation opportunities in the country.
“As its growing population and economic development drive a steady increase in electricity demand, the market presents potential for the expansion of power generation projects utilising renewable energy and transitional power sources,” J-POWER said in a statement.
J-POWER said JPGI will be its eighth overseas subsidiary following its established units in the US, Australia, China, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and the United Kingdom.
JPGI will be involved in market research, information gathering, and business facilitation for renewable energy and transitional power source projects, and relationship building with relevant government agencies, state-owned enterprises, and power/energy-related companies.
J-POWER already has a presence in Indonesia through its investment in PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia, which started commercial operation of the Batang Power Plant in 2022. The Japanese firm has also invested in the hydroelectric power company PT Mulya Energi Lestari.
