JERA transfers stake in Ishikari Bay Offshore Wind project

Four companies are now operating the wind farm.

JERA Co., Inc., through its renewable energy subsidiary JERA Nex Limited, has transferred a portion of its ownership interests in the Ishikari Bay New Port Offshore Wind Farm Project.

According to the company, the stake was transferred to a newly established investment company formed by Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Inc. and Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. Following the transfer, the project is now jointly operated by JERA, Green Power Investment Corporation, Hokkaido Electric, and Tohoku Electric.

The project is located at Ishikari Bay New Port in Hokkaido and consists of 14 Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy turbines with a total capacity of 112 megawatts. It also has a 180 megawatt-hour battery storage system.

Ishikari wind farm began commercial operation on 1 January 2024, with all electricity supplied to Hokkaido Electric Power Network, Inc.
