Semco-PTSC Consortium begins construction of 495-MW Formosa 4 Substation

Scheduled project completion set for end of 2027.

Semco Maritime (Denmark) and PTSC Mechanical & Construction (Vietnam) have officially entered the construction phase of the Formosa 4 Offshore Substation, following a “First-Cut Ceremony” in Vung Tau, Vietnam.

The Formosa 4 offshore wind farm is a 495 MW project developed by Synera Renewable Energy off the coast of Taiwan, supporting the region’s renewable energy targets and localisation policy.

Under the EPC contract awarded in late August 2025, the consortium will be responsible for the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the offshore substation’s jacket and topside, with scheduled delivery by the end of 2027.

Semco Maritime will lead the engineering and commissioning of electrical and auxiliary systems, whilst PTSC M&C handles the jacket EPC, materials procurement, and topside fabrication in Ho Chi Minh City.

Formosa 4 becomes the consortium’s third offshore substation project in Taiwan, following the Hai Long Offshore Substation and the ongoing Feng Miao Offshore Substation.
